The small town of Waiohinu lies on Highway 11 on the southern end of the island only about a mile from Naalehu. There is one store / gas station and a small but nicely kept park with a pavilion, restrooms, and playing field.  Also in the park is the county water spigot where many people go to get their drinking water (although county water is available to some home sites). At the western entrance to the town is the turn off for a county waste transfer station.
