Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes, and her younger sister Hiʻiaka, the goddess of hula and healing, are central figures in many Hawaiian myths. One such legend connects the two to the Pōholū Valley area.
In these stories, Pōholū Valley symbolizes a place of transformation, where the forces of nature (like fire, wind, and water) come into play, and it reflects the ongoing struggle between creation and destruction in the Hawaiian cosmology.
