“Every year since 2009 I've done an original painting to commemorate the Ironman World Championship, which takes place in the heart of our little town, Kona.
The 2023 race is a bit different. All women. All wahine. What a wonderful opportunity to showcase our strengths and draw on the most powerful woman in the history of Hawaii for inspiration...Madame Pele.
'Mana o Pele - Mana o na Wahine' translates to The Power of Pele, The Power of the Woman.
Channel her strength, challenge her fierceness, her loyalty and determination. She will be right there beside you in the bay, at the turn in Hawi, and during that last mile of the run.
