Kukio
The lovers turned into stone at Kukio Beach are part of a Hawaiian legend. This story is about two lovers who were tragically transformed into stone as a result of breaking sacred rules. The legend is often associated with the spirit of eternal love and loss. According to one version of the tale, the lovers were a young woman named Lehua and a young man named Pili. They fell in love, but their relationship was forbidden because it violated some sacred laws of the land or the gods. Despite the warnings, they were determined to be together.
As punishment for their disobedience, the gods turned them into stone statues that were placed at Kukio Beach. The stones are said to be a reminder of their love and their disobedience, standing as silent witnesses to their fate.
